About the Role

Responsible for customer service duties, sales, and relationship management while reaching established goals. Regularly achieves the New Peoples Bank delivery process and product knowledge to develop customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain basic knowledge of all New Peoples Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, deposit, transaction, and loan accounts).
  • Demonstrate a helpful, professional, and friendly attitude at all times, committing to high customer service standards.
  • Serve as customers' single point of contact for all New Peoples Bank products and services.
  • Identify and match customer product needs with New Peoples Bank offerings by interviewing customers and discussing financial needs, including referrals to other staff or departments.
  • Meet performance goals and actively participate in sales campaigns.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Implement sales strategies, including promoting new products and services developed by management.
  • Process a variety of transactions accurately and efficiently (e.g., cashing checks, processing loan payments, handling deposits, completing wire documentation).
  • Issue cashier’s checks, process coin, and order customer checks while assessing appropriate fees.
  • Verify transactions, place holds as needed, and balance cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with night deposit procedures daily.
  • Redeem savings bonds and set up tax addenda appropriately.
  • Adhere to safe deposit box operational procedures, process payments, and update customer accounts.
  • Handle customer complaints or questions, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Research, correct, and re-issue debit cards for unauthorized transactions or lost/stolen cards, including PIN re-issues, while adhering to bank policies.
  • Complete holds and stop payment forms for checking and savings accounts as requested.
  • Assist customers with ITM-related issues.
  • Follow proper procedures for all customer-servicing activities.
  • Perform security functions, including opening/closing the bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety of bank grounds.
  • Perform Vault Custodian duties as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, bank functions, and community involvement activities as assigned.
  • Work in a team setting on projects such as employee contests and sales programs.
  • Adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain strong community visibility.
  • Provide assistance to lending personnel with related duties.
  • Familiarize yourself with all security procedures and equipment.
  • Pursue personal development opportunities to improve job-related knowledge, compliance, and general bank operations.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality in accordance with bank policies.
  • Regularly refresh knowledge of online, mobile, electronic, and traditional products and services.
  • Practice and rehearse customer engagement skills around the bank’s full suite of products and services.
  • Demonstrate product and service knowledge to earn customer respect and engagement.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; less than one year of teller experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • 1 year of business or retail experience required.
  • Must successfully complete required training.

  • Knowledge of general operations and procedures of New Peoples Bank.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with staff and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, customers, and officials from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Passion for customer service and professional etiquette.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven sales skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to master job-specific software and hardware components.

Pay

Salary Range: $16.00 to $20.80 per hour.
