About the Role

This full-time, non-exempt position serves customers in the Northern Market Region, focusing on customer service, sales, and relationship management to achieve established goals. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of New Peoples Bank’s delivery processes, products, and regulatory compliance to develop and maintain customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of all New Peoples Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and regulatory issues, including Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, deposit, transaction, and loan accounts.
  • Demonstrate a professional, friendly attitude and commitment to high customer service standards.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for customers on all bank products and services.
  • Identify and match customer needs with bank products and services, making referrals to other staff or departments as needed.
  • Meet or exceed performance goals and actively participate in sales campaigns.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Implement sales strategies, including promoting new products and services.
  • Process transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, loan payments, wire documentation, cashier checks, coin orders, and customer checks, while assessing appropriate fees.
  • Verify transactions, place holds as needed, and balance cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with night deposit procedures and redeem savings bonds, setting up tax addenda as required.
  • Adhere to safe deposit box operational procedures, process payments, and update customer accounts.
  • Handle customer complaints or questions, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Research, correct, and re-issue debit cards for unauthorized transactions or lost/stolen cards, including PIN re-issues, while adhering to bank policies.
  • Complete holds and stop payment forms for checking and savings accounts as requested.
  • Assist customers with ITM-related issues and follow proper procedures for all customer-servicing activities.
  • Perform security functions, including opening and closing the bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety and security of bank grounds.
  • Perform Vault Custodian duties as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, bank functions, customer appreciation events, and community involvement activities.
  • Work collaboratively on team projects, including employee contests and sales programs.
  • Maintain strong community visibility and assist lending personnel with related duties.
  • Familiarize yourself with all security procedures and equipment.
  • Pursue personal development opportunities to improve job-related knowledge, compliance, and general bank operations.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality in accordance with bank policies.
  • Stay updated on online, mobile, electronic, and traditional products and services.
  • Practice and refine customer engagement skills around the full suite of bank products and services.
  • Demonstrate product and service knowledge to earn customer respect and engagement.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; less than one year of teller experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • One year of business or retail experience required.
  • Must successfully complete required training.

  • Knowledge of general bank operations and procedures.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with staff and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with coworkers, contractors, customers, and officials from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Passion for customer service and professional etiquette.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven sales skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to master job-specific software and hardware components.

Pay

Salary Range: $16.00 to $20.80 per hour.
