About the role
The Relationship Banker delivers high-quality customer service and responsiveness while providing consultative service to ensure both internal and external customer needs are met. This role involves efficient and timely processing of moderate to complex transactions, opening and processing new deposit accounts, and handling consumer lending transactions. The Relationship Banker educates customers and cross-sells appropriate products and services to meet customer needs, interacting both in person and over the telephone.
Responsibilities
- Process daily transactions and perform general customer and account servicing duties with accuracy and efficiency, including routine and non-routine teller transactions in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Perform various administrative duties such as maintaining records, preparing forms and reports, daily vault balancing, and completing branch audits while adhering to security measures to minimize potential losses.
- Provide consultative customer service to understand customer needs and deliver viable solutions, engaging in referral and relationship management to meet established objectives and goals.
- Open all types of deposit accounts and handle consumer lending transactions, including discussing credit reports, credit scores, and other lending-related topics.
- Conduct sales and service calls to existing and potential customers to ensure needs are met and to prospect new sales leads.
- Resolve customer issues and complaints with a high level of responsiveness, ensuring fulfillment and satisfaction through direct action and additional support as needed.
- Participate in community events supporting the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include providing guidance and training for other employees.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in related banking positions preferred.
- Previous customer service, sales, and consumer lending experience preferred.
Skills
- Proficient reading, writing, communication, and mathematical skills.
- Basic knowledge of Decision Pro, Loan-to-Value and Debt-to-Income calculations, and reading credit reports.
- Ability to identify and analyze situations and information to resolve issues and problems.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and customer relations skills, including problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and work well within a team.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to approach, identify, and engage in in-depth conversations with customers to uncover needs and opportunities.
Unique Job Characteristics
- Gain a full knowledge of consumer lending in preparation for NMLS Certification under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and become familiar with requirements for approval (ability to obtain NMLS Certification is preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements
