Position Overview
The Relationship Banker reports to the Branch Manager and develops new and existing business and consumer banking relationships by actively sourcing new business from prospective clients and contacting existing clients to retain and expand banking relationships, meeting or exceeding assigned goals. This is a unionized position through the Communication Workers of America (CWA 7901/9412), located in Seattle, full-time and on-site Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Sales and Networking
- Grow new business by sourcing and researching prospects, organizations, and centers of influence.
- Expand existing business by identifying clients to contact, planning and executing business development activities (in-person and by phone).
- Actively assess clients' financial information by completing a Needs Assessment to determine current and future financial needs.
- Summarize and discuss opportunities uncovered; recommend, present, and offer appropriate bank products and services.
- Coach and collaborate with Customer Service Representatives to identify referral opportunities.
- Deliver an extraordinary client experience based on branch and retail banking protocols.
- Review new and existing customer-related daily reports (e.g., closed account, new account, CD maturity, CD projected maturity).
- Proactively assess customers' financial needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Refer customers to Senior Relationship Banker, Branch Manager, or appropriate department for cross-selling.
- Operations
- Conduct teller transactions as needed, ensuring operational procedures are followed and cash drawer limits are maintained.
- Leverage transactions to identify cross-sell, new customer acquisition, and referral opportunities.
- Provide back-up or coverage for critical operational tasks.
- Open new safe deposit boxes for customers (if applicable).
- Exemplify and deliver the Bank’s mission, vision, values, goals, and culture through personal behavior and decision-making.
- Adhere to all bank operational and security policies, including compliance and privacy policies.
- Ensure customer information meets regulatory documentation standards.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., BSA/Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, Privacy, Anti-Discrimination).

Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent work-related experience.
- 3 years of experience in retail activities, including sales and cash handling.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Positive and professional customer service and sales skills.
- Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Windows environment.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with general supervision.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in management and branch operations.
- Knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations and bank operational policies.
- Ability to handle routine problems involving multiple facets and variables.

Work Environment
The incumbent works in a non-confined office-type setting with freedom to move about. The role may involve minor annoyances such as noise, odors, or drafts. Physical and mental activities include:
- Writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 10 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (close, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

Pay
The posted pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably believe we would pay at posting for this role, varying by geography. New employees typically start from the beginning of the range to approximately 25% of the maximum, while more qualified or experienced employees may start near the middle. Compensation is based on factors including role requirements, knowledge, skills, experience, location, performance, union contract, and business needs. Our pay ranges are informed by national living wage indexes (e.g., MIT’s living wage index) and geographically-specific compensation market survey data.
