About the Role
The Relationship Banker will focus on product sales and exceptional customer service, developing new customer relationships and strengthening existing ones. This role ensures customers are offered appropriate products and services to meet their financial needs, provides expert advice, and handles account servicing and problem resolution. The position is leveled (Level 1 to Level 3), with potential advancement to a leadership role (Relationship Banker 4) upon successful completion of all levels.
- Level 1 – Training: Primary focus on training and development while working with a seasoned mentor. Progression to Level 2 depends on successful completion of all training.
- Level 2 – Proficient: Works independently on routine tasks and with guidance on complex tasks. Demonstrates superior product knowledge and needs-based selling skills. Advancement to Level 3 is based on demonstrated proficiency.
- Level 3 – Advanced: Operates with high initiative, resolves problems, and determines courses of action for new tasks. Serves as a mentor to Level 1 associates.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to branch sales goals through a consultative sales approach with new and existing customers, following the CFB Retail Sales Playbook.
- Identify and uncover customer financial needs through discovery conversations and offer appropriate solutions.
- Refer qualified customers to specialized sales forces.
- Proactively make outbound calls to generate sales and strengthen customer relationships.
- Identify opportunities to sell consumer loans, accept applications, and facilitate loan closings while working with the centralized underwriting department.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by acknowledging every customer promptly, using professional communication, and resolving complaints.
- Open and process simple to highly complex deposit accounts.
- Assist customers with questions, concerns, and day-to-day banking needs, including deposit risk management.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of products, services, digital options, and competitors’ offerings.
- Support customer usage of products and services in the most convenient manner.
- Participate in branch promotions and marketing initiatives.
- Apply sound judgment in adhering to bank standards, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the BSA/AML Program, including completing compliance training and reporting violations or suspicious activity.
Requirements
- Level 1:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or ability to register within 30 days required.
- Demonstrated sales and customer service experience preferred.
- Financial service provider experience preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Level 2:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Achievement of defined Level 1 competencies required.
- Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or ability to register within 30 days required.
- Level 3:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Successful achievement of Level 2 competencies or relevant experience required.
- Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or ability to register within 30 days required.
- Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
Schedule
Availability is needed Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 5:30 pm, with occasional Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:15 pm.
