Responsibilities
- PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
- ADMINISTRATION - Assist in the collection and documentation of patient information into the electronic medical record; maintain patient charts and other documentation as required in accordance with Hospital and departmental procedures and standards
- ADMINISTRATION - Ability to utilize multiple computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Cerner EMR, and TigerConnect
- ADMINISTRATION - Order equipment and supplies through Lawson as directed by supervisor; communicate with vendors to obtain quotes; track fulfillment status and backorders
- ADMINISTRATION – Mail and prepare correspondence, prepare documents to be scanned into the medical record, scan documents to the medical record, assist with scheduling patients and faxing documents
- CLEANING - Help maintain safe and cleanly environment for patients and therapists by cleaning items used by patients, keeping areas free of clutter, and keeping equipment and floors clean
- COMMUNICATION- Communicate with extradepartmental personnel which may include providers, care management, nursing staff, or other members of the care team to facilitate highly coordinated patient care via Cerner Millenium Applications, TigerConnect, and other communication methods
- COMPLIANCE – Maintain clinic cleaning and temperature logs, follow equipment/machine cleaning schedules, perform environmental scan
- COST CONTROL - Utilize parts and supplies in a manner that maximizes efficient and cost-effective utilization of resources
- CUSTOMER SERVICE – Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers; provide and ensure quality service and customer satisfaction; coordinate non-patient care activities
- Data Entry – Enter requested data into computers, verify data, make corrections as needed, and ensure accuracy to assist with process improvement projects or other clinic data collection needs
- EQUIPMENT - Maintain a sanitary work area to include patient care rooms, equipment and instruments; report equipment malfunctions
- FACILITIES- Assist in care and maintenance of department facilities
- FACULTY ASSISTANCE - Occasionally staff the front desk to assist with patient check in and check out, call patients to help with scheduling or patient reminder calls and/or to relaying information to clinical or non-clinical staff
- ORIENTATION - Train new employees in departmental procedures; assist in department volunteer orientation
- PATIENT CARE - Demonstrate competence in patient care delivery according to department guidelines for support staff by assisting therapists with patient treatment activities as directed by supervising therapist in a timely and accurate manner; help prepare patient areas for treatment sessions
- PATIENT CARE - Take and/or record vital signs to include temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, weight, height and, blood pressure
- SUPPLIES- Assist with inventory management of specialty supplies including appropriate billing of equipment; assist therapists with obtaining custom orders; maintain pyxis inventory in areas with pyxis machines
- TRAINING - Attend in-service educational programs; attend staff meetings
- CLEAN TECHNIQUE – Learn and demonstrate clean and aseptic technique practices, to include: opening sterile supplies and instruments, clean room set-up, assist with patient preparation including dressing removal, peri-wound and basic wound cleansing
- FABRICATION - Assist in splinting patients under supervision of physical or occupational therapist; assist in fabrication of custom items related to patient care, which may include sewing
- PATIENT CARE- Assist with setting up interpreter services and preparing patients for treatment sessions
Qualifications
- Education: High School or GED Equivalent
- Experience: No minimum experience required
- Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
- Physical Conditions: Heavy Work
