Rehabilitation Counselor - Full Time/Permanent
Job Function
This individual will provide case management, rehabilitative, and restorative services to residents within our Community Residence Program. Counselors are responsible for teaching, coaching, and monitoring residents’ daily living activities in a community residence or apartment setting, in order to develop skills, abilities, and experience that will facilitate greater opportunity for the resident to live independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education, Experience, and Knowledge
- - Bachelor’s degree in human services-related field; or an associate degree in human service-related field and three years’ experience in human services; or a high school diploma and five years’ experience in human services.
- - Must possess a working knowledge of current issues and concerns of people with mental illness, rehabilitative training methods, and community resources.
- - Maintain cleanliness of the residence
- - Medication management
- - Compassion, sensitivity and understanding for individuals suffering from mental illness and substance abuse.
- - Professional demeanor
- - Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
- - Be able to travel to and among various facilities that are multileveled with stairs only.
- - Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- - May be required to use personal vehicle for programmatic purposes. (Mileage reimbursed for site-to-site travel).
- - Criminal Background check approved by NYS Office of Mental Health
