Rehabilitation Counselor

About the role

Epitec is seeking experienced and compassionate Licensed Substance Use Disorder Clinicians to provide treatment services within a correctional healthcare environment in Cranston, Rhode Island. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals on their recovery journey through evidence-based substance use disorder treatment and behavioral health services. Working alongside medical, behavioral health, and correctional professionals, you will help create a supportive, recovery-focused environment while delivering high-quality clinical care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Bio-Psycho-Social assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices
  • Provide individual counseling and therapeutic interventions
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and treatment-focused group counseling sessions
  • Apply ASAM Criteria for assessments, treatment planning, and level-of-care recommendations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Support discharge planning and re-entry preparation as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within electronic medical record systems
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented treatment environment
  • Build rapport and provide support to individuals with substance use disorders within a correctional setting

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or a related field
  • Active Rhode Island license in good standing in one of the following:
    • LCDP
    • LCDC
    • SLMHCC
    • LICSW
    • LMFT
  • Experience diagnosing and treating substance use disorders
  • Working knowledge of ASAM Criteria
  • Experience facilitating both individual and group counseling sessions
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and clinical documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in correctional, forensic, residential, or community behavioral health settings
  • Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
