Rehabilitation Aide - Per Diem

About the Role

A Rehabilitation Aide provides rehabilitation services support (PT, OT & Speech) to patients utilizing established policies and procedures. This role supports rehabilitative care delivery by preparing treatment areas, patients, equipment, and materials; performing procedures under the supervision of a physical, occupational, or speech therapist. Assists the rehabilitation therapists in the provision of care, ensuring safe and effective delivery based on the ages of the population served—children through geriatric—and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team.

In addition to clinical duties, Rehab Aides assist office staff with clerical duties as required for daily operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provides consistently exceptional care at all times, ensuring safety and sensitivity to the rights and needs of each patient.
• Performs specific therapeutic treatments in accordance with established protocols, as directed by licensed staff.
• Prepares treatment areas, escorts patients to treatment areas, and prepares patients and applicable equipment for treatment.
• Assists with treatments under therapists' supervision, taking direction and recommendations from the therapist.
• Provides care only pursuant to specific instructions by the therapists relative to the treatment plan.
• Recognizes unusual conditions outside of expertise and seeks guidance from the therapist.
• Maintains established supply levels, including linens, assistive devices, wound care products, office supplies, and equipment needed for therapy modalities.
• Works collaboratively with other department staff to ensure efficient department activities and meet customer needs.
• Assists with administrative and clerical duties (e.g., scheduling, answering phones).
• Operates equipment and performs job-related duties safely, ensuring proper functioning and following procedures when equipment malfunctions.
• Cleans equipment according to infection control practices and established procedures.
• Responds to department needs by performing other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Academic and practical work experience in an allied health or rehabilitation environment preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Skills

• Sufficient computer skills to work within the electronic health record system.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a strong sense of teamwork.
• Effective communication in English; bilingual abilities preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing and prioritizing conflicting demands.
• Professional demeanor while assisting in care delivery for all patient populations.
• Strong multitasking abilities.
