JOB SUMMARY
Enhances department effectiveness by providing patient assistance in preparation for treatment, transporting patients, maintaining equipment and accessories, maintaining documents, ordering and stocking supplies and maintaining a clean environment under the supervision and direction of a licensed therapist.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- DELIVERS QUALITY CARE
- By performing patient related activities to optimize the skilled intervention provided by a licensed therapist.
- ORGANIZES WORK ENVIRONMENT
- By preparing treatment areas, answering and triaging phone calls, generating and filing documents, preparing billing slips, preparing modalities and completing other tasks as identified by the department.
- PROMOTES SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- By preparing and cleaning treatment areas and equipment in compliance with policies and procedures the rules and regulations governing environment of care and patient safety.
- By stocking linens and supplies, removing soiled linen, reporting malfunctioning equipment, maintaining clean and clear walkways and safely transporting patients with or without wheelchairs.
- PROTECTS PATIENT INFORMATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY
- By securing all information in confidential space, following facility confidentiality policy.
- CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
- By assisting therapists to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary and promoting a positive work environment.
- By proposing, investigating and implementing new operational methods to achieve end results.
- DEVELOPS AND ENHANCES JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- By participating in continuing education, providing input and information for operational improvement.
- EDUCATES STUDENTS, VOLUNTEERS AND AIDES
- By providing educational experiences and orienting new staff as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

- Education: High School Diploma required
- Work Experience: Previous aide or volunteer work experience preferred
- Licenses / Certifications: Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association is required for those working in inpatient and long-term care settings. For those working in outpatient settings, this certification is preferred.
