About the role

Under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff, this position assists therapists in routine tasks for therapeutic treatment of patients. It also involves assisting the department supervisor/manager in coordinating the department's function and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Supports licensed staff: Assist with patient care activities as directed by therapist. Activities include setting up patient rooms/treatment areas, setting up patients on exercise equipment, conducting video fluoroscopic swallow studies, obtaining assistive devices, and obtaining durable medical equipment and paperwork.
  • Provides treatment to assigned patients under the direct supervision of clinical staff.
  • Performs activities to help maintain the flow of patient care in the department.
  • Maintains the department’s physical environment and follows infection control guidelines.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment and documents quality control checks.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly departmental checklists and audits for walkers, gait belts, and chairs.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, peers, patients, and family members, and alerts managers/clinicians to departmental/patient issues.
  • Participates in educational activities such as mentoring new staff, participating in department projects, promoting rehabilitation services, and assisting with quality improvement activities.
  • Assists with visitor tours and acts as a departmental ambassador.
  • Uses critical thinking and problem-solving skills in day-to-day operations and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year healthcare-related experience preferred.
  • Previous rehabilitation experience desirable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED required.

Skills

  • Willingness to learn and utilize new technology and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, patients, and family members.
  • Proficiency in using various software applications for job performance.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $16.67 - $22.43 per hour.

Schedule

Clinic hours are 7 AM to 7:30 PM. The position is looking for a mix of early and late shifts to cover clinic time.
