About the Organization
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Operations Services Supervisor and work independently, drafting and editing procedures and special correspondence related to motor vehicle titles and registrations, and vessel titles and registrations.
- Answer and respond to telephone calls that require technical knowledge and problem solving.
- Respond to questions from the Motor Vehicle Q & A Board, posting the responses for tax collectors.
- Assist with training to implement motor vehicle and vessel title and registration laws and procedures.
- Assist with analyzing documentation which may impact the bureau.
- Prepare and recommend changes to special reports and projects.
- Draft technical and complex correspondence.
Requirements
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
- Skill in the use of Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS), Florida Driver License Information System (FDLIS), and Adobe.
- Knowledge of Florida statutes, policies, and procedures as they relate to motor vehicles and vessels.
- Knowledge and skills as they relate to Department issuance systems.
- Ability to analyze data, identify problem areas, and make improvement recommendations.
- Ability to identify and research programmatic issues in a timely manner.
- Ability to verify data or accuracy.
- Ability to effectively manage daily workload and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to use tools to effectively track program and management.
- Ability to work individually and as a team with business users from other bureaus and technical staff.
- Ability to scrutinize a problem and determine possible solutions for its resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in an organized and precise manner with both technical and non-technical partners.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints or issues in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to quickly assimilate information and make timely decisions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in preparing correspondence or written communication, conducting research, and providing customer service.
- Experience using Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS), Florida Driver License Information System (FDLIS), Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION), and Adobe.

General Information
