Regulatory Compliance Specialist | Remote

Role Overview

Crossing Hurdles is sourcing a Regulatory Compliance Specialist with a strong accounting background to support Verita AI's data pipeline work. In this role, you will apply your domain expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs, identify where AI reasoning falls short, and help translate real accounting workflows into structured training data.

What You Will Do

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, reasoning quality, and domain correctness across accounting and compliance workflows
• Translate real-world accounting processes into structured tasks used to train and improve AI models
• Identify gaps, edge cases, and reasoning errors that require domain-level expertise to catch
• Document assumptions, thought processes, and decision logic clearly in written form
• Provide structured feedback that engineering and research teams use to refine AI systems

Domain Focus

• Month-end and year-end close processes
• Journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Financial reporting and compliance
• GAAP and IFRS standards and application
• Audit procedures and internal controls

Requirements

• Five to eight or more years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or regulatory compliance
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is an asset
• Experience with one or more ERP systems, including NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks
• CPA preferred; candidates with equivalent credentials and experience will be considered

Work Style and Expectations

• All work is completed asynchronously through Slack and internal tools
• No fixed schedule, and meetings are minimal
• Consistent weekly engagement is expected
• The minimum commitment is ten hours per week, with fifteen to twenty or more hours per week strongly preferred

Compensation

• $100 to $125 per hour USD, depending on experience
• Payment: Fortnightly via Deel
• Engagement type: Long-term freelance
• Hours tracked via Insightful

Strong Performers

• You may be considered for retainer arrangements over time if you demonstrate strong performance
