Regulatory Chemist
About the role
Join a dynamic fragrance manufacturer as a Regulatory Chemist within the Regulatory Affairs team. This office-based role involves reviewing fragrance formulations for regulatory compliance, preparing customer documentation, and supporting internal teams with technical and compliance-related requests. This position requires a scientific background and is primarily focused on regulatory review rather than laboratory work.
Responsibilities
- Review fragrance formulations using regulatory software to ensure compliance with domestic and international regulations.
- Analyze formulas and identify regulatory or compliance concerns.
- Prepare and generate technical and regulatory documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other customer-required documents.
- Respond to regulatory and documentation requests from customers, sales teams, and internal departments.
- Research regulatory requirements and compliance standards for various markets and customer needs.
- Screen formulas for accuracy and completeness before release.
- Maintain regulatory records and documentation files.
- Monitor and communicate regulatory changes that may impact products or customers.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects and urgent requests while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with regulatory staff, chemists, sales personnel, and customers.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another scientific discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn new software and technical systems.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Comfortable working in an office-based, computer-focused position.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience within a chemical, consumer products, food & beverage, fragrance, cosmetic, or related scientific environment.
- Previous experience supporting regulatory affairs, compliance, quality, product stewardship, or technical documentation.
- Familiarity with SDS documentation or regulatory requirements.
Work Environment
This is a 100% onsite position in St. Louis, MO. The role is primarily desk-based and computer-focused, with a collaborative office environment that involves frequent interaction across departments. The fast-paced setting includes a high volume of customer and internal requests. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Punctuality and reliability are highly valued.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryland Heights, MO.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
