Position Summary
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports the Regulatory Affairs team by assisting with the review, maintenance, and communication of regulatory information for company products. This role helps ensure product compliance across applicable markets and provides timely, accurate regulatory documentation and support to internal teams and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior regulatory team members by collecting, reviewing, and organizing regulatory information and documentation.
- Absorb and apply regulatory requirements to products under appropriate guidance.
- Prepare routine compliance documentation for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Respond to customer regulatory inquiries with oversight from senior regulatory personnel.
- Maintain regulatory databases and ensure product information remains accurate and up to date.
- Aid in the preparation and maintenance of technical files and supporting regulatory documentation.
- Support compliance activities related to U.S. and Canadian regulations, with opportunities to expand into additional global markets.
- Aid in Kosher and Halal certification documentation and maintenance.
- Aid in Organic Flavor Certification programs and documentation required for TTB compliance activities.
- Develop knowledge of TTB regulatory compliance.
- Aid in Kosher and Halal certification programs.
- Develop familiarity with EU allergen regulations and IFRA standards.
- Ensure assigned regulatory requests are completed accurately and within established timelines.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
- Adhere to company safety policies, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Participate in safety training, audits, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Comply with OSHA regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Report and address unsafe conditions promptly.
- Support compliance with FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, Organic, HACCP, DEA, FSMA, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support adherence to SQF, Kosher, Halal, and other relevant food safety and quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with Food Safety and Food Defense programs.
- Support company quality systems, including document control, traceability, allergen management, crisis management, and training programs.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle documents, samples, and regulatory materials.
- Perform computer-based work for extended periods, including data entry, document review, and communication.
- Occasionally lift, move, or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Periodically work within office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, including bending, reaching, and climbing stairs as needed.
- Ability to review detailed documentation, specifications, and technical data, requiring close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance within the food, flavor, fragrance, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Regulatory Affairs programs in food environments.
- Working knowledge of industry regulations and terminology, including GMP, Kosher, Halal, NOP, allergens, labeling requirements, TTB, IFRA, REACH, CAS numbers, Proposition 65, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and support team objectives.
Hourly Pay Range
$40 - $45/hr
