About the role

Baylor Medical Center Frisco is hiring a Registration Specialist for a PRN position.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Register patients and obtain consent.
  • Process paperwork and discuss and collect upfront amounts due from patients.
  • Greet patients promptly registering for hospital admission and identify self to patient.
  • Obtain patient’s insurance information and explain co-pay and deductibles.
  • Collect upfront amounts due from patients.
  • Process registration information courteously and efficiently.
  • Distribute and explain hospital information, brochures, and forms.
  • Ensure patient signatures are obtained and correct on consent and insurance forms.
  • Support hospital and department policies, department director, and hospital administration.
  • Lend knowledge and assistance to other hospital departments, physician's offices, and co-workers.
  • Work effectively with members of other departments and receive minimal complaints.
  • Communicate effectively and express ideas clearly; actively listen and follow appropriate communication channels.
  • Provide direction and assistance to patients, family members, and co-workers courteously and positively.
  • Communicate professionally at all times.
  • Know and adhere to hospital and departmental policies; adapt and cooperate with changes in assignments, procedures, and personnel.
  • Maintain skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities.
  • Use supplies and equipment properly and economically and report necessary repairs promptly.
  • Reflect professionalism in performing duty and knowledge of procedures necessary to produce the desired effect.
  • Provide backup for receptionist and radiology scheduler.
  • Utilize Meditech to register patients to the facility, collect monies and view statistics as necessary.
  • Notify supervisor/director of issues promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Patient Access Services Manager.

Required Skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of previous experience is preferred.
  • Must have the skills to operate the office equipment required to fulfill job duties.
  • Forty-five (45) wpm typing skills are required.
  • Medical and insurance terminology and computer experience beneficial.
  • Good communication and people skills are essential.
  • Ability to multitask.
