About the Role
Provides patient-focused customer service. Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.
Responsibilities
- Researches, collects, and analyzes information.
- Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and leads through resolution.
- Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience.
- Responsible for distribution of analytical reports.
- Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials.
- Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized.
- Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
- Researches and compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives.
- Synthesizes and analyzes data, providing detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions.
- Leverages program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program, and Code of Conduct, ensuring adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Patient Access experience preferred.
- HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one (1) year of hire.
- Medical terminology knowledge required.
- Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.
- Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.
Schedule
- Full time, night shift.
- Holiday and/or weekend rotation is required.
- Two-week training period required: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Pay
Pay range: $17.25-$22.54 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary based on location.
