About the role
The Registration Assistant will help the office of Academic Advising and Transfer Services with registrations and systems operations. The Registration Assistant will support continuing/returning and new student registration events and planning. They will support programmatic efforts and duties of the Professional Academic Advisors and provide front-end support to students when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Affords assistance with coordination and implementation of New Student Registration events, including scheduling placement tests and appointments.
- Affords assistance in scheduling registration appointments for New Student Registration staff.
- Provides front-end support to the office including checking in visitors and logging them into the Starfish system, answering phones, returning messages, and emailing responses on behalf of the office.
- During peak times, proctors placement tests for math and music and reviews transcripts for placement.
- Affords assistance with transfer services events as needed.
- Performs other related duties assigned by the Director, Center for Academic Advising and Transfer Services or Associate Provost of Student Affairs.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one year working in an education setting or in customer service required. Preference given to candidates with experience at a community college.
Special Requirements
- Ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills and professional acumen.
- Excellent concierge skills in greeting and helping new and prospective students.
- Knowledge of the general philosophy of academic advising and transfer services as they relate to the successful student experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work with software systems such as Starfish, Colleague, Slate etc. preferred.
