Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact by answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries.
  • Register patients and maintain accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect required signatures and payments at time of service.
  • Support financial processes including payment collection, receipts, and daily reconciliation.
  • Update patient records in hospital systems and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients regarding coverage, co-pays, and balances.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, EMTALA, and regulatory standards.
  • Support additional coverage needs and respond to supervisor feedback as needed.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Less than 1 year of clerical or healthcare office experience is required.
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience is preferred.
  • Strong ability to work cooperatively with the public, staff, and leadership at all levels is required.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills are required.
  • Basic computer keyboarding and 10-key skills are required.
  • Must successfully complete EPIC Registration competency following Epic Clerical Training.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
