Registrar
About the Role
As our Registrar, you will provide crucial clerical support for our professional caregivers by expertly managing all functions related to patient registration. You will handle registration, insurance verification, financial assistance information, and Point of Service Collections. You will ensure accurate data input and record keeping, maintain the integrity of patient information and financial transactions, and adhere to all credit card handling processes due to potential access to sensitive third-party credit card information.
Your ability to accurately manage complex administrative tasks will directly support seamless patient care and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Registers/pre-registers patients in a timely manner, ensuring minimal to no patient waiting and minimal registration time.
- Obtains accurate and complete patient information for the registration process.
- Completes medical record requests within department guidelines.
- Provides adequate notes in the computer system by documenting all payer-related information, patient issues, physician office communications, and any account-related communication.
- Ensures correct forms are filled out and signed for each registration, including payer-related forms, COA, and Medicare notification letters.
- Ensures that patient handouts are distributed and explained (e.g., Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Directives, Financial Assistance).
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED.
- Previous experience in a clerical setting.
- Typing speed of 30 wpm.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer skills.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in prior authorization, precertification, insurance benefits, and their application to hospital registration or a medical office setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience with an EMR system (e.g., Cerner).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
