Registered Veterinary Technician

Silverado Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.

About the role

In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit. We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment—balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Assisting in surgery
• Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
• Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
• Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Requirements

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
• Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the state of California

Skills

• Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
• Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Surgical assistance and aseptic technique
• Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
• Radiology positioning and safety protocols
• Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
• Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
• Experience with dentistry highly desired but not required

Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply.

Pay

$29-32 per hour, for each hour worked

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a 5/8 schedule and availability required for 1-2 Saturdays per month and an occasional half-day on Sundays.
