About the role

The Credentialed Veterinary Technician performs a critical role in providing high quality care for patients. They are key partners to the veterinarians, providing the appropriate support to ensure each client interaction and procedure is seamless and successful.

Responsibilities

• Aid veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights, provide client education, and prepare patients for surgery.
• Monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery, obtain and prepare lab specimens, perform in-hospital testing, take and develop radiographs, handle and restrain animals, administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments, and clean and straighten exam rooms.
• Restock exam rooms with supplies, assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean, and maintain medical equipment.
• Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members, including client discussions, patient plans, and client concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in the state of desired employment.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, and basic math skills to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.
