About the role
We are offering a $5,000 hiring bonus for this position (50% paid with first check and 50% at the one-year mark).
Schedule
- Full time, 3rd shift (6:00 pm–6:30 am)
- Rotating schedule:
- Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
- Week 2: Sunday, Thursday, Friday
- One on-call weekend shift per month
- Shift differential: $3/hour from 7:00 pm–7:00 am Monday–Friday and all day Saturday & Sunday
- On-call pay: 1.5× hourly rate if called in
Compensation
- $25–$35/hour
- $35+/hour for VTS credentials
Responsibilities
- Assess and triage emergency patients upon arrival, working alongside veterinarians to establish and implement appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
- Provide high-quality nursing care through administering treatments, closely monitoring hospitalized patients, identifying changes in condition, and prioritizing patient comfort and well-being
- Utilize advanced technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic sample collection, radiography, anesthesia induction/monitoring/recovery, surgical nursing, and additional procedures within your scope of practice
- Maintain smooth and efficient patient flow throughout the Emergency and Critical Care department while completing accurate medical documentation and upholding high standards of patient care
- Provide compassionate client communication through patient updates, education on treatment plans, and support throughout admission, discharge, and overall care
- Collaborate with veterinarians and fellow technicians in a fast-paced, team-focused environment to support exceptional outcomes for patients
- Foster a positive hospital culture by working collaboratively, supporting fellow team members, and strengthening clinical skills through ongoing learning and professional development
Requirements
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, LVT, or equivalent)
- Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia induction and monitoring, patient preparation and recovery, surgical nursing, dental prophylaxis, radiography, and perioperative patient care
- Previous experience in veterinary medicine with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment
- Collaborative, team-first mindset with initiative to jump in where needed and support colleagues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to educate clients, work effectively with veterinarians and team members, and adapt communication style to various situations
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and composed while caring for critically ill patients and supporting clients through emotional and high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills, sound clinical judgment, and ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail in a dynamic hospital setting
