Responsibilities
- Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography exams in accordance with Integra Vascular's policies and procedures.
- Practice proper patient identification before proceeding with an exam.
- Review all supporting clinical information.
- Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination.
- Use proper patient positioning and equipment adjustments to ensure patient and sonographer comfort and safety.
- Demonstrate knowledge of infectious diseases and utilize Universal Precautions.
- Perform diagnostic medical sonography examinations as ordered by the physician, following Integra Vascular's ultrasound protocols.
- Acquire additional images when needed for optimal diagnostic results.
- Identify and document any limitations of the exam and prepare comments/findings at the conclusion of the exam.
- Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or care.
- Maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA.
- Troubleshoot issues or call for assistance as needed.
- Properly care for ultrasound equipment and notify the office of any issues.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers and members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain education and training in sonography.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or direct management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 1 year of experience in venous insufficiency (required).
- 1 year of experience in sonography (required).
- BLS Certification (required).
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification (preferred).
- Ultrasound Certificate (required).
- Competency in specialty area(s) performed and ARDMS or CCI registry (required).
- Proficiency in computer skills, including PACS and EMR experience (required).
- Committed to professional growth and learning.
- Clean driving record.
- Travel required.
- Not listed on the OIG exclusion list.
