This position involves providing respiratory care, pulmonary, and cardiology diagnostic testing in clinic and/or home settings. You will work alongside an energetic team of Respiratory Therapists passionate about exceptional patient care, referred to as "our Sofia’s."
Responsibilities
- Perform all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians or licensed independent practitioners.
- Apply and manage mechanical ventilators, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort, and expedite the weaning process.
- Assemble, disassemble, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and adjust durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care.
- Perform pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed.
- Conduct patient assessments, evaluate responses to care, and recommend modifications to the plan of care based on clinical changes.
- Document therapy accurately and completely.
- Communicate and collaborate with staff to formulate care plans, recommend therapy changes, and resolve problems.
- Supervise department staff as needed.
- Provide 1:1 clinical support and in-service education on equipment such as PAP, ventilators (non-invasive and invasive), oximeters, apnea monitors, air compressors with trach supplies, cough assist, vest therapy, and OCD with spot checks.
- Participate in the on-call rotation covering after-hours and weekends.
Requirements
- Associate or technical degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Proof of passing the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). RRT required for all new hires after October 1, 2015; incumbents as of that date must obtain RRT by October 1, 2017.
- Current state license in the state practiced, as required by law. In Nevada, Blood Gas Technologist certification is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- For Home Care setting: Valid driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
- One year of clinical experience, including knowledge of clinical techniques, applications, and equipment.
- Highly effective human relation skills to interface with patients, families, staff, and other healthcare personnel.
- For Banner Home Care AZ employees: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
- For Banner Registry positions: Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as an RRT in the specialty area.
