Registered Respiratory Therapist - Children's - PRN

Job Summary

Reports to the team leader. Chief objective is to demonstrate knowledge and skill in critical care respiratory care.

About the Role

Responsible for providing respiratory care services in critical care and general floor settings. Assists in clinical training of students and participates in research projects.

Responsibilities

• Assume preceptor responsibilities for new employees and peers in advance training.
• Provide assistance with clinical training of students from Respiratory Programs.
• Participate in clinical based research projects related to respiratory care delivery.
• Assure timely adjustment and maintenance of respiratory care and equipment.
• Assist with airway management and CPR procedures.

Requirements

• License/Certification/Registration: RRT, State-approved license, ABG endorsement, current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certification.
• Education: Associate of Science in Respiratory Care or graduate of an NBRC and AMA approved Respiratory Program meeting NBRC Exam requirements. Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred.
• Experience: One year of clinical experience as a respiratory therapist. Two to three years of critical care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have an understanding of respiratory therapy principles and practices.
• Proficient with all equipment used in the respiratory care department.
• Advanced skills in critical care and general floor care for patients ranging from children to older adults.
• Capable of making recommendations for optimal technology utilization.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills essential for patient care environments.
