Position Details
The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, and associated interventions under the direction of a physician. This role ensures accurate data collection, scoring, and reporting of sleep studies while providing patient education and maintaining safety standards throughout the diagnostic and therapeutic process.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography program (preferred).
- Previous experience performing polysomnographic testing and sleep study scoring (preferred).
What You'll Do
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sleep study equipment.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM standards.
- Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies, including: CPAP/BiPAP titration studies, split-night studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT).
- Monitor patients throughout studies and respond appropriately to sleep-related events and emergencies.
- Score sleep studies and generate detailed reports in accordance with AASM guidelines.
- Educate patients on sleep disorders, PAP therapy, and equipment usage.
- Ensure equipment functionality and compliance with infection prevention protocols.
- Accurately document procedures, observations, and patient interactions within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development activities.
