Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Full-Time)

About the role

As a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist at the Institute for Sleep-Wake Disorders, you will perform polysomnography (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), Home Sleep Testing (HST), and PAP titrations on patients of all ages (infant to geriatric) under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Review patient data in preparation for a PSG.
• Apply electrodes and monitoring equipment needed to record a PSG; perform pre-PSG equipment calibrations.
• Monitor patients throughout the PSG, making notations on patient records every half hour.
• Remove electrodes at the end of the PSG and document post-PSG findings.
• Document dates of completion for each process of interpretation of PSG.
• Clean all equipment as indicated by Infection Control guidelines.
• Score PSG, MSLT, and MWT according to AASM scoring criteria; forward all data for interpretation to the reading Physician.
• Perform monthly inventory and collect data for monthly Performance Improvement reports.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and schedule proper repair or replacement.
• Complete the inter-scorer reliability test monthly.
• Maintain a neat and clean work environment; clean all surfaces at the end of each shift.
• Participate in Journal Club and all staff meetings.
• Maintain patient charts in proper order and file appropriately.
• Review sleep studies with Physicians and staff.
• Perform mask fits and CPAP trials (PAP naps) on patients.
• Participate in health fairs.
• Perform monthly checks on the Code Cart.
• Utilize the Epic hospital system.
• Assist with the entire Direct Referral process and the setup of durable medical equipment on patients.
• Complete backups and typing for the interpretation process.
• Complete mandatory annual e-Learning for HUMC.
• Perform other related tasks as requested by Manager/Administration to maintain department operations.
• Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
• New Jersey State License for RPSGT, Respiratory Therapist, or Registered Nurse.
• CPR certified.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $40.28 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.
