Registered Nurse Weekender Program (RN) - Neurosurgery ICU
About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in the Neurosurgery ICU (NSICU) at Carolinas Medical Center. The NSICU is a 29-bed unit with all private rooms, three negative pressure rooms, and two fully equipped nursing stations with central monitoring. Common diagnoses include subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, spinal cord injuries, Code Stroke, head trauma, intracranial hemorrhages, brain tumors, continuous EEG, and carotid endarterectomies. The unit operates with a 1:2 ratio and has an AACN Beacon of Excellence Silver Designation.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- At least 6 months of RN experience
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing, at least 6 months of RN experience, registered nurse license, BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Skills
Skilled in using the NIHSS, monitoring and manipulating external ventricular devices, subdural drains, and IRRAS. Compassionate and effective communicator.

Pay
Pay Range: $38.20 - $57.30
Schedule
Part time, Benefits Eligible, Hours Per Week: 24, Schedule Details/Additional Information: PT nights weekend.
