About the role
The Registered Nurse - Vascular is responsible for assisting radiologists who have been extensively trained in the field of minimally invasive, interventional techniques, to provide state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for vascular-related conditions. You will help guide patients through their treatment plan in a comfortable, outpatient setting. We specialize in non-surgical solutions that offer less risk, less pain and less recovery time than traditional open surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care:
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension
- Screens patient prior to procedure for any precautions or contra-indications
- Educates patient and family about pre, intra, and post procedure care
- Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient
- Documents patient history and physical assessment for assigned patients
- Aids in administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved standards and regulations for care
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient
- Marks and records patient conditions including vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
- Monitors and records patient conditions including vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
- Notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction
- Department Support:
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities
- Aids in establishing, evaluating and updating patient care standards
- Maintains and documents maintenance of patient monitoring, laboratory testing equipment, and procedural medications
- Other Duties and Projects as Assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Registered Nurse with current appropriate state license, current and in good standing
- Two (2) years’ experience working in a hospital or clinic
- Experienced and skilled in starting patient IVs
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Current Tuberculosis (TB) test
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Experience in interventional radiology
- Experience in moderate conscious sedation
- Bilingual
