Registered Nurse (Urology Specialty Clinic)

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Graduate of an approved nursing program, Current full active unrestricted registration as a nurse.

Requirements

• Integrates biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technically competent practice in providing care to clients with basic or complex needs.

• Provides patient care and care coordination, assists with minor office procedures, follows Medical Center Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Service Level Agreements, actively participates in the time-out process, and follows Hospital National Patient Safety Goals.
• Advocates for health promotion and provides health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
• Provides pre and post-procedural care, including nursing assessment of patients, consent, and H&P validations, starting intravenous fluids including venipuncture, assisting with peripheral nerve blocks, ensuring all lab work and other pre-procedural testing is completed and communicated to team members, confirming procedure sites are prepared and marked, and administering medications as ordered.
• Clears and concisely teaches and reviews pre and post-procedure instructions with patients and families using written and verbal communication.
• Affords patient safety by safeguarding them from injury caused by using lasers, electrosurgical equipment, thermal sources, positioning devices, or extraneous objects.
