Registered Nurse - University Colon & Rectal Surgeons

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and patient triage, both in-person and via phone
• Auxiliary in minor office procedures (e.g., anoscopy, wound care, drain management)
• Inform patients and families about surgical procedures, pre- and post-op instructions, ostomy care, and medication management
• Coordinate preoperative testing, imaging, and follow-up appointments
• Monitor and document patient progress and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR
• Engage in quality improvement and infection control initiatives as required

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of [State]
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• BLS certification (current)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a clinic or surgical setting
• Preferred: Experience in colorectal surgery, GI, or wound/ostomy care preferred
• Knowledge of Cerner or other EMR systems
• Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) a plus
