Responsibilities
- Practice guided by ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.
- Apply professional nursing principles, practices, and concepts to care for the patient population served.
- Record patients' medical history and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatment and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
- Establish or contribute to a care plan, including administering medication, managing IV lines, providing therapies, observing and recording patient progress, and consulting with physicians.
- Teach patients and families about illness/injury management, post-treatment care, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self-administration of medication.
- Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precept new hires and students, and assist in completing competency tasks.
- Enhance knowledge in nursing management and patient care, improving patient experience and clinical outcomes.
- For RNs with direct responsibility for stroke patients:
- Knowledge of stroke symptoms, warning signs, protocols, pathways, and management.
- Familiarity with NIHSS and Modified Rankin Stroke scales, Stroke Alert activation, and stroke quality indicators.
- Access to stroke patient education materials and community resources.
- Collect and prioritize health data systematically, involving the family as appropriate.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans.
- Identify expected outcomes and implement interventions, including treatments, medications, and emergency measures.
- Provide nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
- Evaluate patient progress and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
- Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
- Evaluate personal nursing practice against professional standards, regulations, and policies.
- Integrate ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
- Collaborate with peers and healthcare providers to foster professional development and quality practice.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care and identify improvements using research.
- Participate in and apply evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) – Preferred. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5+ years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct or indirect RN roles).
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing – Required. Graduation from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution.
- Travelers: Minimum 13-week assignment in a full-time status.
- 2 years of RN experience – Required.
Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required (based on specialty).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required.
- State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Arizona – Required.
- National certification for unit-specific patient population – Preferred.
Pay
Earn up to $2,943.00 weekly.
