Registered Nurse Transport Coordinator

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse Transport Coordinator, you will assist with the development and implementation of all transport team protocols and training programs. This role involves coordinating and participating in the education and orientation of new transport team members, overseeing process improvement initiatives within the unit, and delegating tasks as appropriate. During transport, you will function to identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the stabilization and emergency care of acutely ill neonates and infants in collaboration with the Medical Control Physician.

The Transport Coordinator practices in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards of the hospital, and within the guidelines of the protocols for the transport program reviewed by the HCA Midwest Maternal Transport Leadership Team. Care is provided following hospital policies, applicable state Nurse Practice Acts, and AAP Guidelines for Air and Ground Transport.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of transport team protocols and training programs.
• Coordinate and participate in the education and orientation of new transport team members.
• Oversee and facilitate process improvement initiatives within the unit.
• Delegate tasks as appropriate for the transport team.
• Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate stabilization and emergency care of acutely ill neonates and infants during transport in collaboration with the Medical Control Physician.
• Practice in accordance with hospital policies, state Nurse Practice Acts, and AAP Guidelines for Air and Ground Transport.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or a medically related field of study; Graduate of a school of nursing required.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
• BCLS, ACLS, and STABLE certifications required.
• NRP certification required upon hire or within three months of hire.
• Proof of successfully completing IFMC upon hire.
• AFM required within six months of hire.
• C-EFM strongly preferred within six months of hire.
• Current transport-specific nursing certification pertinent to the scope of care and patient population required within 2 years (CFRN or CTRN preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of current clinical experience as an RN working in a high-risk obstetrics unit.
