This is a temporary 13-week assignment at Maple Heights Behavioral Health, a new 120-bed inpatient hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role offers the opportunity to convert to full-time at the end of the duration.

Maple Heights Behavioral Health provides comprehensive treatment for adolescents, adults, and seniors struggling with acute symptoms of mental health disorders. We are seeking passionate behavioral health professionals eager for growth opportunities and making a difference in the community.
Schedule
- Full-time temporary position
- Set schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- Day and night shifts available
Pay
$60 per hour. This is not an agency contract, and travel stipends or reimbursements are not provided. The position is not benefit-eligible.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans.
- Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about physical and behavioral health conditions.
- Provide nursing care within state Nurse Practice Act regulations, facility policies, and corporate procedures.
- Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed appropriately.
- Assess and document patients’ status on an ongoing basis.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status (e.g., detox difficulties, medical emergencies, medication responses).
- Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission and ensure they align with assessed needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of universal precautions in direct patient care.
- Administer medications accurately and document controlled substance counts.
- Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients through professional boundaries, respect, and rational detachment.
- Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
- Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in treatment.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or eligibility to practice.
- One year of nursing experience; prior psychiatric, mental health, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing experience required.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training available upon hire).
- First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
- Strongly prefer 2 or more years of RN experience.
