About the role

The position is a casual RN for the Neuro Surgical ICU Department at UMMC East Bank in Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes
  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care
  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care
  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes
  • Coinciding care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate
  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes
  • Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities
  • Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act

Requirements

  • One (1) year ICU experience – OR – 18 months recent medical-surgical experience in a hospital setting
  • MN RN License
  • BLS required
  • Certification in related specialty is highly desired
  • One year adult critical care experience is preferred
  • Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred

Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
