Registered Nurse-Surgery-PRN

Position Purpose
Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to the health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrate expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- Plan and deliver patient care.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinations.
- Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communication of patient condition.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
- Assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation.
- Educate patients and family.
- Plan continuum of care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame).
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating).
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN or MSN preferred.
Pay
Pay Range: $41.70 – $55.68 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
