About the Role

Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a leadership role as a Registered Nurse Supervisor B that combines clinical excellence with genuine care for those who served. Overseer of four wings that includes supervising the LPN, CNA and RNs.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and delivers resident care on assigned units, including shift coordination, staff reassignment, and direct patient care as needed (e.g., administering medications, treatments, and assessments).
  • Supervises and evaluates performance of subordinate staff, including conducting performance evaluations, managing disciplinary actions, and supporting professional development through in-service training.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership and other departments to ensure 24-hour continuity of care and maintain a safe, effective environment for residents.
  • Completes clinical documentation such as the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), Minimum Data Set (MDS), and updates care plans based on residents' evolving needs.
  • Investigates and reports complaints and unusual occurrences, documenting findings and proposing plans of action to Nursing Administration.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.
  • One of the following:
    • Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
    • A bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
    • A master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
    • A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Qualifications

Compensation

  • Special Entrance Rate: $ 2919.20BI-WEEKLY / $36.49 PER HOUR
  • Premium Pay: $7.00/HR - Worked Hours Only
  • Shift Differential: This position qualifies for shift differentials, with rates varying based on shift time, day of the week, and holidays.
