About the role

The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients. Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, and their designated care partners in a way that respects and collaborates with them.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patients' preferences and cultural beliefs into the delivery of care.
  • Partners with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and educates them about their health and treatment plans.
  • Minimizes risks by following established nursing practices and protocols, and by assessing and managing potential hazards.
  • Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Maintains records of patient care processes and uses data to drive improvements in patient care quality and safety.
  • Fosters teamwork and open communication within nursing and interdisciplinary teams, promoting quality patient care.
  • Recognizes and supports patients and their designated care partners in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care.
  • Cultivates an inclusive environment and demonstrates leadership in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, and acts as a preceptor for other staff members.
  • Participates in hospital- and practice-setting-based committees, focusing on safety and quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Knowledge of patient-and-family-centered care principles.
  • Understanding of effective communication and patient education techniques.
  • Experience in medication administration and prescription.
  • Knowledge of discharge planning and health information documentation.
  • BLS certification from the AHA.
  • RN license in the state of practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within 3 years of hire, preferred.
  • One year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
