Specific Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing services on the Mobile Health Unit.
- Demonstrates and implements techniques of nursing care.
- Counsels and educates clients on sexually transmitted infections (STI), including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and risk reduction.
- Dispenses contraceptive devices, medications and literature.
- Informs clients on family planning methods and counsels regarding risks and benefits of different contraceptive methods.
- Maintains vaccine accountability within state requirements.
- Facilitates telehealth calls for clients with DOH-Marion APRN or Medical Director as needed.
- Helps client maintain a state of wellness through periodic screening procedures and health counseling.
- Affirms timely data entry in Florida Shots, HMS, and EARS as required.
Operational Responsibilities
- Administers vaccines across all age groups.
- Recognizes situations in which intervention is needed to improve outcomes or prevent harm.
- Collects correct information for accurate documentation and reporting.
- Works independently, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
- Uses multiple computer programs to support clinic operations and documentation.
- Makes a nursing diagnosis following specified protocols.
- Handles difficult STI/sexual health issues/social issues in a sensitive, professional, and non-judgmental manner.
- Teaches clients specific health issues, promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness.
- Carries 25 lbs unassisted.
Qualifications
- Valid Florida Driver's license.
- One year nursing experience in clinical public health.
- Valid Florida registered nursing license.
- Experience in community outreach (preferred).
- Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).
