Registered Nurse, South 3, Per Diem
Major Responsibilities
Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning. Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
Position Qualifications
- Required: Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
- BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Experience/Skills
- Required: Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
- Preferred: Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description.
Physical Demands And Environmental Conditions
Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Licenses, Certifications, Education
- Required: Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
- BLS through either American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is a requirement for every RN within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, Float Pool) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
- PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (PACU, ED) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
- NRP Advanced Provider through American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) required in select areas (Maternity) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Department-Specific Competencies
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
