About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Shock Trauma ICU is responsible for providing comprehensive care to trauma and shock patients. The ICU specializes in volume resuscitation and serves as the primary treatment unit for hemorrhagic shock, managing various types of severe shock and catastrophic injuries.

Responsibilities

  • Affirmatively assesses physical, social, and psychological status of patients.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Directs interdisciplinary care teams, delegates tasks, and coordinates care delivery.
  • Monitors patient responses to interventions and revises care plans accordingly.
  • Promotes professionalism and adheres to legal and ethical standards in practice.
  • Provides patient care coordination, communication, and evaluation.
  • Engages in critical thinking and teamwork to address patient needs.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
  • Valid compact license transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • One year of licensed RN experience required.
  • Current experience in an ICU or high acuity setting preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire date.

Qualifications

  • Education must be from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a BSN as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025.
  • Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.
