About the role

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking dedicated and passionate Registered Nurses to join our team. As a Corrections’ Nurse, you will work alongside experienced staff and benefit from strong management support.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical assessments, identify concerns, and make nursing diagnoses that guide proper care
• Administer medications, monitor compliance, and observe treatment effectiveness
• Provide ordered treatments, assist with examinations, and support daily living needs
• Update electronic health records, review charts, and prepare documentation for transfers or releases
• Teach health practices to staff and offenders and reinforce information that supports safe behavior
• Maintain readiness for inspections and follow all required infection control and quality procedures

Qualifications

• Necessary Special Requirements: Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
• Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
• Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
• Not eligible for telework

Pay

Starting annual salary of $89,802.00 (before taxes)

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week. Three (3) work shifts covering the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Shifts: 1st shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 2nd shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, 3rd shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
