As a Registered Nurse in Oncology, you'll utilize your specialized knowledge to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients. You will document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies for our medical oncology clinic.

Banner Gateway Medical Center offers 286 private rooms, 13 operating suites, a 46-bed emergency department, and shares a campus with the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our WIS and NICU services support an average of 4,000 deliveries per year.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Tuesday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe.
• Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members and diagnostics/laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
• Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
• Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
• Initiates a realistic, measurable plan of care in conjunction with the patient/family, considering their unique needs.
• Plans care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and revises the plan based on changing patient needs.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
• Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, complying with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision for patient care by other licensed nurses and personnel.
• Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed.
• Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible, timely manner.
• Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
• Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
• Contributes to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes.
• Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
• Interacts with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts concerning patient care.
• Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support the human response of the patient and family.

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
• BLS certification is required.
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
• Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work.
• Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
• For Home Health settings, must be able to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license and active auto insurance.
• For specific Behavioral Health settings, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required at the time of hire and must be maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
