Registered Nurse/RN - Trauma Surgical Unit, 7S

About the role

The Trauma Surgical Unit is dedicated to caring for a diverse patient population, including trauma, orthopedic, and urology patients. Nurses in this unit collaborate closely with various medical specialties and support services to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions on admission and throughout their stay, considering physical, psychological, and social factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, including education and discharge planning.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs, PCAs, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain safety protocols and document patient care accurately.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and address safety concerns.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain high patient and staff satisfaction.

Requirements

• Current Alabama Board of Nursing RN license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS Provider certification or obtain within 30 days of start date.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, Associate degree required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
• Knowledge of trauma, orthopedic, and urology care, as well as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and other relevant certifications.
