Registered Nurse (RN) - Supervisor - Behavioral Health

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift position.

About the Role

The Clinical Supervisor has decision-making authority and is responsible for the coordination of clinical management and safe delivery of age-specific patient care throughout the hospital. Provides leadership and guidance to staff regarding care management through coordinating and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Functions as a clinical resource and mentor to all patient care areas.

Nursing expertise and clinical knowledge develop over time and are acquired through experience and exposure to different practice situations. Nurses must utilize multiple ways of thinking in order to cultivate the essential skills of clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and clinical judgment. These skills continue to develop as they progress through career stages from novice to expert. Competence in these areas is measured throughout each stage:

• Stage 1: Novice – Beginners depend on rules to guide actions but may struggle to prioritize tasks in real-life situations.
• Stage 2: Advanced Beginner – Has encountered enough real situations to recognize patterns but still needs help setting priorities.
• Stage 3: Competent – Typically after 2-3 years of practice, can rely on long-range goals and plans to determine priorities but lacks the speed and flexibility of proficient professionals.
• Stage 4: Proficient – Perceives situations holistically, making decision-making more efficient by focusing on key aspects of the problem.
• Stage 5: Expert – Relies on intuitive grasp of situations, focusing immediately on the accurate region of the problem without unnecessary consideration of unfruitful possibilities.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current licensure in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BCLS certification with current ACLS or scheduled for an upcoming course.
• Current MOAB certification or scheduled for an upcoming course.
• Certification in Neonatal certification or scheduled for an upcoming course.
• Certification in ENCP or PALS preferred (or scheduled for an upcoming course).
• Minimum of five years of current acute care practice preferred.
• Strong knowledge base and clinical expertise in multiple and diverse clinical settings.
• Ability to effectively access clinical resources to meet patient needs in hospital-based settings.
• Ability to provide effective supervision and oversight throughout the hospital using clear communication, interpersonal skills, strong decision-making, and clinical judgment.
• High level of competence and comfort with Windows-based computer applications.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $43.26 to $58.52 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
