About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) II OR Department Premium Weekend Alternative Periop position at Houston Methodist is a licensed staff nurse with experience in a healthcare environment. This role functions at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model of clinical practice and is responsible for providing professional nursing care, conducting assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, educating patients, and maintaining medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, including those with varied and complex needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians and interprofessional health care teams to ensure compassionate, efficient, and quality care.
  • Maintain patient rights and advocate for patients as needed.
  • Assume leadership roles, such as participating in or leading unit and shared governance initiatives, serving as charge nurse, or preceptor to students or new employees.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
  • Experience: Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure - must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency)
    • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association
    • Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
  • Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association.
  • Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification.

Pay

This position offers a Weekend Alternative differential for 24 hours worked between Friday at 6:45 a.m. through Monday at 7:15 a.m.
