Registered Nurse (RN)- Rehab General

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina – Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Rehabilitation Department

About the role

Registered Nurse (RN) plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Unit: 18-bed Rehab Brain Injury unit with a 1:7 patient ratio. Pediatrics are accessed on an as-needed basis. The care team includes Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome.

Common patient conditions: TBI, MVA, multi-trauma, ICH, SDH, encephalopathy, CVA.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and identify patient care needs
• Use patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care
• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Facilitate a safe environment
• Maintain required competencies
• Function as charge nurse as assigned
• Maintain an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administer medication as ordered by physician
• Recognize life-threatening situations and respond appropriately
• Establish collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff
• Monitor the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators
• Actively participate in cost containment and assist in accurate charging for patient services
• Adjust care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
• Support patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
• BLS certification – American Heart Association
