About the role
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental age.
The Float Pool Team supports all inpatient units across our hospitals:
- Banner North Colorado Medical Center (Greeley Campus)
- Banner Fort Collins Medical Center
- Banner North Colorado Medical Center (Loveland Campus)
All Float Pool RN roles require floating to MedSurg units as needed. This is a full-time night shift position.
Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a 378-bed Level II trauma center and acute care facility with over 3,000 employees. It offers inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. As a regional medical center, it serves southern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western Kansas, and northeastern Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Formulate and implement a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Delegate and supervise care provided by other licensed nurses and personnel.
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record accurately and timely.
- Participate in shared leadership, education, orientation, and mentoring of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Contribute to improving nursing quality indicators and outcomes, potentially through participation in professional organizations.
- Interact with staff across departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate and clarify patient care.
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
- Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work.
- For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months in the specialty area.
- For Home Health settings: Valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and ability to operate a personal vehicle.
- For positions in behavioral health settings serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or Colorado equivalent) required at hire and maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Professional certification in a relevant specialty.

Pay
Estimated pay range: $33.11 - $55.18 per hour. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity.
