About the Role

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to deliver, direct, and supervise care to patients admitted to the nursing unit. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and providing patient care, interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization, and accessing community resources. May perform Charge Nurse duties if ACLS certified.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, direct, and supervise patient care using the nursing process.
  • Plan, coordinate, and provide patient care, including interdisciplinary planning.
  • Facilitate discharge planning and patient/family education for post-hospitalization.
  • Access and coordinate community resources for patients.
  • Perform Charge Nurse duties if ACLS certified (required for the role).

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where the hospital resides or compact licensure if applicable.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA approved within 90 days of employment).
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days of employment (current ACLS required for Charge Nurses).

Qualifications

  • One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required.
  • Preferred candidates have some Charge Nurse experience.
